We’re Hiring

Full-time Coordinator, Community Helpers Program

Options HIV West Yellowhead, a Harm Reduction agency serving Jasper, Hinton, Edson and Whitecourt, is currently recruiting for the position of Community Helpers Program (CHP) Coordinator.

The Community Helpers Program is based on the premise that there are natural “helpers” in every community—people that others turn to for guidance and support.  Our target population are youth and young adults, newcomers to Canada and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community.  We will ask our target populations to identify any “helpers” that they are aware of.  We will then offer the helpers free training in suicide intervention, how to recognize when someone is suffering/struggling emotionally and make them aware of the community resources available to assist people.  The CHP will also build a network of support to care for the helpers.  We don’t want anyone to drown while they try to keep someone else afloat.

The CHP Coordinator will work out of our Hinton office.

The Coordinator will be responsible for developing the program in Hinton through identifying helpers, facilitating their training and providing supports for both the helpers and the population they serve.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced facilitator with a good understanding of the Harm Reduction philosophy. The position is full time.  Wages and benefits commensurate with experience.
